T’s Blog / Life Update – Fall 2020

Well here we are, it’s late October 2020. The year of “WTF IS HAPPENING HERE, and HOW IS IT OCTOBER ALREADY”.

Anyway, I’m on my lunch break at work, and feeling super guilty about not posting any of my planned updates for the month. I have so many half-written posts.

WHY is that? Well, life has been busy. Other things took priority over blogging. I guess I need to decide if this blog is a priority. What purpose does/will it fill for the time I put into it? Is it worth the effort?

I suppose it keeps me thinking about FI/RE in an intentional way. It allows me to reflect on the past to make improvements for the future. Is that enough justifcation to keep going?

I think I need to dig deep to find the will to continue. Stay tuned I guess. *insert shrugging emoji here*

In the meantime, do what you gotta do.

  1. Well you made it two years! I dare say a lot of blogs fold up long before that.

I do feel you though, there are definitely days when I wonder if I keep going creating content for me, or for the consumer. There needs to be value on both sides.

You’re also getting close to the FI doldrums…That place where you have optimized as much as you can, and now it’s just a long slow waiting game for your investments to start compounding. I know it will be worth the wait!!
    Cheers

    1. Thank you MM. FI doldrums is probably where I’m at, although I have not fully optimized yet. I feel I’ve just lost steam to take further action. But I’m going to try to fix that. 🙂 Just realized it’s been two years. Well that’s something.

  2. I’m in the same boat as you T. There’s so much I enjoy about blogging and the whole point of starting it was to stay focused on the FI path. I also find a lot of value in the continuous learning that goes with the technology side of developing a blog so I don’t want to give that up. But lately it seems I’ll do everything but sit down and write and I find myself wondering if I should just quit… It’s hard to know what’s what is this dumpster fire of a year. Anyway, I enjoy your posts, regardless of how often, or not, they are. Hang in there!

    1. Hi Amelia. Thank you for stopping by! I also enjoy YOUR posts! Since we are at least relying on each other, we should probably keep going. HAHA! Anyway…I enjoy the same aspects of learning new technologies and slightly stretching my brain power. I have always thought of myself as a “lifelong learner”, however lately the motivation has wained significantly (probably to do with the dumpster fire you mentioned). Thank you for your support, and to quote your own advice – hang in there!!
