Semi-Weekly FIRE Report

The last 3 weeks at work have been bonkers. Home life has been bonkers. Trying to get anything FIRE-related done is bonkers!! There seems to be some ethical concerns around cloning humans, but I could really use a second me right now. Second me could go to work every day, while “real me” would sort out all the current loose ends in my life and hang out with my family and go on vacation.

Well, hello, Dolly!

Sighhhhhhhhhhhh. Ok. What have I gotten done over the last few weeks? I’m going to have to think REAL hard about this.

I honestly cannot think of one thing I’ve done to propel myself closer to FIRE. With the exception of “trying to keep being employed by attempting to keep up with work”. Does that count?

Honestly I need time to refresh and refocus. I’ve been trying to say no to more things to free up my evenings and weekends. This weekend is the least busy I’ve had in about 2 months, so once Mount Laundry has been conquered, perhaps I can then tackle the FIRE!

I hope to get a far more exciting and thought provoking post up this weekend. In the meantime, thank you for stopping by, and feel free to give me your tips for keeping on top of FIRE activities / a kick in the pants in the comments. Happy Summer!

  1. Make sure you take some time for yourself. Relax and do nothing. There’s no point trying to tackle life optimization and FIRE when it feels like another chore. I’ve been there, it didn’t bring me joy. As for keeping on top of FIRE, why not combine some chill time with a podcast where you learn something new about FI. That absolutely counts as a FIRE activity!

    1. This makes me feel better. Thank you! And, great idea…lately I’ve been listening only to “entertainment” podcasts to keep give my mind a break. It might be more motivational / productive to get back to learning new things about FIRE! 🔥

  2. I second MM’s suggestion re: listening to FI podcasts. But like you, I also need to shut off my brain sometimes. As much of a FI fanatic I am, there are moments where a playlist of sappy songs is all I can handle! Try to take it easy on yourself. Things will calm down soon enough!
