Hidey ho good blog readers!
Here’s hoping you’re having a fantastic summer (or winter, for those Southern Hemisphere types). I’m having a blast working my a$$ off at the actual day job! If you’ve not picked up on it yet, that’s sarcasm, I literally hate the daily grind, hence my main reason to shoot for FI.
Life has been so busy this summer I’ve barely had much time to work on my $500 challenge. How it will probably go is:
- July – Make very little money
- August – Make very little money
- September (first 3 weeks) – Make very little money
- Last week of September – FREAK OUT because I need to somehow make $400 in a week.
I mean, this is just a guess based on my traditional way of handling deadlines, which is to do everything at the last possible minute.
Anyway, on to the update!
$500 Challenge Progress Report
So far I’m about 23% of the way through the timeline to September 30th.
I’ve made $61.10, which means I’ve achieved 12% of my goal. I sold another item on eBay this week. Clearly I need to ramp things up this week before vacation in August!
To see how this compares to my previous report, go here.
I’ve been spending a bit of time crafting. My friend gave me a bucket o’ rocks so that I may continue my new very affordable hobby. Here are some samples for your viewing pleasure!

Now lemme just say, I’m very much a beginner at rock painting. People on the interwebs do really fabulous things with rocks. I only hope to become half as good as actual artists. Also, the market for painted rocks isn’t the strongest. That said, even if I make no money at this, I find painting rocks rather therapeutic, so I’m saving on my therapy bills! 🙂
This week, I plan to spend some time thinking about how to ramp up my eBay sales since I’m really enjoying the additional pleasure of de-cluttering. Between Hubs and I we have at least 8 more items to sell that could bring in a decent amount.
That’s all for now, I appreciate hearing about your side hustle successes in the comments as always!
Keep at it T! I’m sure you’ll hit the $500 goal no problem. The rocks are so beautiful. I’m sure it’s very therapeutic. I love repetitive sorts of tasks, so it’s something I know I’d enjoy also!
